55 DEGREES SOUTH
PHOTO
If you draw a line around the 55th parallel south, there is almost no land around the world, only raging ocean storms.
The Beagle Channel and the Cape Horn area in Chile are the exception, and their islands mark the end of the American continent. It is home to the southernmost settlements in the world—neither military nor scientific, outside of Antarctica—and the inhabitants who have chosen to live at the edge of the map make this raw, wild, and pristine landscape their home.
This photographic project allows us to witness an unknown world through the soft light of the winter solstice.
